Applique technique from Yukari (Story Quilt)

Hello everyone,

This week I still continue some more techniques for Applique. This design by Yukari, I love her works, they're kind of illustration and applique. It's such a unique Applique. I had her book last year but I haven't done anything. Just looked at her book and wish I will do one day.

This pattern is from Book 2, yes I had book no.1 and 2.  This cushion is a sweet applique and shabby chic. It looks great on our wreck chair on balcany.

Let's get ready.....

This patern hasn't got number so I worked it out myself. Remember it has to be from back to front.

Mark a pattern on fabric, I like to do it on center and 4 coners.

I usesd a cutter cut no.1 piece then trace on fabric, use the one that I cut to trace on fabric then cut it.

I usually use just 1 pin to keep a piece of fabric and background together. I'm a right handed so I pined in the middle for me to stitch round it. I don't like to move a pin while i'm doing it

I left the area that will connect with other pieces.

Next start no.2

Continue until finish...

I checked it sometimes by press a pattern on top of fabric....

Now Teddy bear is finished..

Next is a puppy, bunny, dog and ducky......

Finishing touch by some buttons, embroidery and lace.

How I do an applique.

Hello,

This week I'd like to show you the technique involved in applique. After learning so many variations over the years  I feel I've finally found my own way which suits me personally...

Get ready....

Copy your pattern and mark it on the fabric.

Cut pattern (no.1)

Marked onto the fabric

Stiched onto the fabric...

Repeat it in order....

A girl applique's next..

Vora...

Not finished yet, turn to back of fabric and cut some background off, so it'not too thick. Cut it as you can but some pieces that are too small you should just leave it.

Now it's ready to create a card cover..

Cat week

Hello, I hope you will have a lovely valentine day next week.

This week I had an order from a client from facebook, she ordered an egg purse. She chose the background colour and I put together the colour palette for applique. The funny thing was her house is 10 minutes drive from my house so I offered to drop my purse at her house and she let me look at her works as well.

I am really pleased that someone likes my work so much. She wanted to keep it as her master piece!!! We talked about our experiences of craftwork. There cannot be many jobs where you can make friends with customers the first time they buy from you.

Second piece is a card holder cover, it still has cat.

The owl family

Hello,

This week was a tough week for me, I had my sister came to visit me and it was sport week for my children. My daughter was a cheer leader so I had to practice to make her hair from youtube. I also had to get a costume for my son to do the parade....

I actually didn't do any works this week but I made the owl family from last week.

These are owl purses, they have different sizes.

and an applique keyring...

Tilda Dolls

Hello,

My week started a little slow, so many little jobs to do. I've been busy tuitoring my son for his exams. I can't believe how much children have to study right now, I try to think what I learned when I was their age.

I've been busy making Tilda dolls, I took a course on this last Saturday. This time I learned how to make her nose point and how to put stuffing into the shape I want. These dolls are bigger than the last ones I made. Putting stuffing in is still difficult for me.

Here's the one I did in class, it actually included a log cabin cushion and sofa but I am keen to make perfect doll more than accessories.

These two were good practice after taking a class, it seemed easy in a class but not when I did them myself. I still need more practice to have the perfect Tilda Doll.

Our New year break

My family and I went to celebrate my birthday and New Year by the beach. Our Hotel is in a Thai style, we went here last month for a night but this time we stayed here for 4 nights.

We loved the welcome animal towels, they even taught our children how to make them.

Here's the beach that we went to to chill every morning. It's call Mae Rampaung Beach in Rayong. The weather was great, we kept saying "can't believe it's winter".

If you notice I took a patchwork with me. That's the good thing for patchwork I can work anywhere I want.

Our dog was very happy to spend time with us.

I repaired my favorite jeans by using 2 patchworks. It's in a Union Jack Love Heart style, my daughter loves to say it's "love heart" shaped and I like it.

One more work of pachwork I made last year, japanese style by Masako. She came to Chiang Mai to visit her fans....
